“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”
(1 TIMOTHY 2:1-5)
Hello all & God bless you!
Now that Election 2008 is over and our choice for President of the United States has been made, Scripture commands us to pray. To pray “for kings and for all that are in authority...”.
This includes our President-to-be, President elect Barack Obama.
Let's pray that, as a Christian, President-elect Obama will grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (2 PETER 3:1
. Let's pray that He will get more of the mind of Christ (1 CORINTHIANS 2:16). Let's pray that he will get more of the heart of God and that the decisions that he would make would be in accordance with that.
Let's pray that God would bless him and his family (PSALM 139:19-22 ; MATTHEW 5:44). Let's pray that God would protect him and his family and give them peace, not only from any adverse or hateful outward circumstances, but peace on the inside as well and peace within the first-family, among themselves.
Let's pray that God would give him knowledge and wisdom so that he might govern this great nation in accordance with Scriptural principles and steer this nation in a direction that is well pleasing to God and will thus incur His favor and not His wrath and judgment. Let's pray that God will not only give him the knowledge and wisdom to do this, but also the courage to follow through, because we know that living for the Lord Jesus Christ and following the Lord is no easy task and the one who does so will be persecuted (2 TIMOTHY 3:12).
Let's pray for those that will be a part of his cabinet, his decision making team, his advisors and counselors, that they will be individuals who will fear the Lord and that God would put the fear of Him in their hearts and that their counsel and advice to our President-to-be would reflect this.
Let's pray that God would bless this President as he stands for Biblical righteousness and walks this out and works this out in his own personal life and his policy-making life. Let's pray that where he is in error and not walking and working according to Truth (JOHN 17:17) that God would raise up prophetic voices to speak to him saying, ”This is the way, walk ye in it...” (ISAIAH 30:21) and that he would be quick to repent, for his sake and for the nations sake.
And finally, let's pray and ask God in what ways we can become involved and affect change in this nation for the Kingdom of God. Let's write to our President-to-be. Let's write to our congress men and women. Let's inform them that our President-to-be's position on abortion, stem cell research, sex education in our schools and gay rights is not our position. Let's make our voices heard and take a stand for righteousness. We have no right to sit back and complain if we are not doing anything to make a change.
Let's do our part to make this nation what God and our founding Fathers intended it to be...ONE NATION UNDER GOD!
God bless you and stay tuned for more from Slaves Wage!
