"What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God,
and ye are not your own?" 1 CORINTHIANS 6:19
Hello all and God bless you!
This is the third installment of this series of writings entitled, "Who Calls Your House Home"!
It is my pleasure and privilege to bring the Word of God to you and my prayer that you will not only be a
hearer of the word of God, but a doer as well (JAMES 1:22). What good is it to put yourself in a position to
get good and Godly teaching that is meant to bring you into the plans that God has for you (plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future!) only to fall short of that
experience by not applying what you have learned and heard? Jesus said to his disciples of old (and He still
says this to us today!), "If ye CONTINUE in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and you shall know
the truth and the truth shall make you free" (JOHN 8:31-32). Continuing in the Word of God is more than
just reading the Word of God. Continuing in the Word of God is more than just listening to someone preach
or speak the Word of God. Continuing in the Word of God means to hear and to practice the Word of God,
to hear and to do the Word of God, to hear and to live out or flesh out the Word of God! Revelation 1:3
says this, "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy (the Word of God!),
and KEEP THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE WRITTEN THEREIN...". The Living Bible says it quite clearly, "If you
read this prophecy aloud to the church, you will recieve a special blessing from the Lord. THOSE WHO
LISTEN TO IT BEING READ AND DO WHAT IT SAYS WILL ALSO BE BLESSED...". You cannot expect to recieve
the good things that God has for you and yours by only listening to the Word of God. You must DO what
that Word says, otherwise, you are just deceiving yourself (JAMES 1:22)! Jesus, in MATTHEW 7:24-29, said,
"..whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and DOETH THEM, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built
his house upon a rock;" and again, "And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them
not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:". My hope and prayer for you
is that you would be a doer of the Word of God and not a hearer only so that you might be a recepient of all
the good things, the inheritance, that God has in store for you, not only in the sweet by-and-by but right
here and now (EPHESIANS 1:11 ; 1 PETER 1:3-4)!
In Part 2 of "Who Calls Your House Home", we were talking about the fact that, when we decide to ask
Jesus Christ to become our Lord and Savior, He then finds a place of rest in us and our bodies become what
1 CORINTHIANS 6:19 calls "...the temple of the Holy Ghost...". But, we must realize, that just as Jesus
Christ or the Holy Spirit desires to find a place of rest in you, from whence to be able to influence and effect
this world for the Kingdom of God and His righteouness so Satan or the spirit of antichrist longs to find a
place of rest in you as well so as to be able to influence and effect this world for the Kingdom of Darkness
and wickedness!
How is this accomplished? How do we give Satan or an evil spirit a place of rest in us?
First we must realize that the devil is seeking a place of rest in human vessels just as God is seeking a
place of rest in us. In MATTHEW 12:43-44 Jesus says,"When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he
walketh through dry places, seeking rest and findeth none. Then he sayeth, I will return into my house
from whence I came out...". Throughout the Gospels and the New Testament we find examples of people in
whom Satan found a place of rest (MATTHEW 8:28-34 ; ACTS 16:16-18 ; MATTHEW 4:24). In ACTS 5:1-6 we
read the account of Ananias, a Christian, who, according to the Apostle Peter, allowed Satan to fill his heart
(vs. 3).
What determines whether or not an evil spirit finds a place of rest in us and is then thus able to call our
house, body or temple home?
WE DO!!
The Bible says in EPHESIANS 4:27, "Neither give place to the devil". We have the ability and responsibility
before God to not give any place in our lives to the devil and demon forces for them to occupy! JAMES 4:7
illustrates this as well when the apostle says, "Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee
from you." As we insist upon the righteous standards that God has set forth in his Word, we have the
ability to resist the devil and not permit him entrance nor access to our lives! The choice is up to us...who
will call your house home?
If you take the time to read EPHESIANS 4:26-31, you will find a number of different ways that one permits
the devil to have a place in their lives:
1) going to bed angry (vs. 26)
2) stealing (vs. 27)
3) corrupt communication and evil speaking (vs. 29,31)
4) grieving the Holy Spirit (vs. 30)
5) harboring bitterness or resentment in your heart, unforgiveness (vs. 31)
There are more ways listed in just these six short verses, of which so much could be said, but by listing just
a few of them I am attempting to communicate to you not only the fact that WE determine whether or not
an evil spirit calls our house a home but also some of the ways that is accomplished!
So, What can we do to be sure that we are not giving Satan a place in our lives, allowing him to call our
house home? First and foremost, if you have never asked Jesus Christ to come into your life and make your
house His home, you NEED to do that. The resurrected Christ said in REVELATION 3:20, "Behold, I stand at
the door, and knock (the door of your heart!): if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in
to him, and will dine with him, and he with me." If, as you have been reading this posting, you have sensed
that Jesus Christ is knocking at the door of your heart, I invite you to open that door to Him today. Make
Him your Savior and Lord. Allow Him to call your house a home. Where you have given place to the devil in
times past and to the extent that Satan has taken up residence in your life to date...no worries! Your new
live-in Landlord, Jesus Christ, is more than able to serve and enforce an evictionnotice and leave your
house empty, swept and put in order...ready for Him to take up occupancy and lead you into that life
abundant that He has so longed for you to experience as you walk hand-in-hand with Him for a lifetime
(JOHN 10:10)! Are you ready?
Let's pray:
God, I thank you for so loving me that you gave your only born Son, Jesus Christ. I believe that Jesus
Christ is your Son. I believe that He died and rose again from the dead on the third day. I ask you to
forgive me of all my sins, Jesus, and come and live in my heart today. I make You my Savior and Lord. I ask
you to call this house your home. I turn my back on the devil and demon forces, never to return and I take
hold of your hand today for a lifetime, thanking you for saving my soul, cleaning this house and calling me
your own! Fill me with your Holy Spirit, Lord Jesus, and enable me to live a life that is pleasing to you and a
witness to others of your life-saving, life-changing power and ability! I ask this in your name Lord Jesus,
Amen!
If you prayed that prayer with me...congratgulations! You are now a Christian by virtue of your profession
of faith and Christ Jesus now living in you! I encourage you to read the Bible, talk to God on a daily basis
and become an active part of a local, Bible believing and practicing church. God has a great plan for your life
and has promised never to leave you nor forsake you! You will never be alone on this journey we call
life...never!
There is so much to say and so much to learn about this topic which we have been discussing in this
posting. So many questions waiting to be asked! I hope that you will ask them and allow God to enlighten
you on the matter via the Word of God by His Holy Spirit. My prayer for you all is that you would continue in
the Word of God and go on and grow on into all that the Lord Jesus Christ has for you, to the praise of His
glory and for your good!
In Jesus name,
Amen!
Until next time, God bless you and stay tuned for more from Slaves Wage!
