WHO CALLS YOUR HOUSE HOME? PT. 1

"We will go into His tabernacles:  we will worship at his footstool.  Arise, O Lord, into thy rest..."  PSALM 132:7-8

"When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none."
MATTHEW 12:43

"What?  Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and
ye are not your own?"  1 CORINTHIANS 6:19

The Word of God is so rich!  His wisdom is so enrapturing!  His Truth is so practical!  What I will attempt to cover
today focuses on three areas which are represented by three ideas found in these three verses of scripture
leading us to the theme of this dissertation, "Who calls your house a Home?".  What I would like us to focus on is
the house of God (His tabernacle, His footstool, the temple of the Holy Ghost), the rest or resting place of God,
and what that means to us.

For the most part, we view the house of God or the temple of God or the tabernacle of God as a physical place
made of wood and brick and stone with a steeple on top.  Some call the house of God a mosque.  Others call it a
synogogue.  Others call it by different names.  But the truth of the matter is that the house of God is not the
house of God if God does not live there.  The house of God is not the house of God if He doesn't at least visit
there every once in a while.  The house of God is not the house of God if His presence isn't felt there.  Yes, you
can FEEL the presence of God.  You know what I'm talking about.  If you've ever had an uneasy, unsettling
feeling that makes you want to run when in the presence of certain people or a peaceful, secure feeling that
makes you want to stay when in the presence of certain other people, you know what I'm talking about.  You can
feel the presence of God!

The Bible describes His presence as this, that in His presence there is fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore
(PSALM 16:11).  If you've ever been to a church and not felt this His presence, it could be that God doesn't live
there, call it a synogogue, mosque, community church, whatever the case may be.  In the verse of scripture in
the Psalms,  the presence of God was so there that the writer said, "We will go into His tabernacle...".  David in
one portion of scripture said, "I was glad when they said unto me let us go into the house of the Lord".  The
presence of God in a particlular place makes you want to go to that church, makes you want to go to that
meeting.  I would suggest that you avoid places where the presence of God is not, because in those places,
among those assemblies where the presence of God is not present, there is no power present to effect any
change in you for God's glory and your good.  For where the presence of the Lord is there is power! The apostle
Paul said that the Kingdom of God is not in word but in power.  Jesus said that the Spirit of the Lord was upon
Him to preach the gospel, to heal the broken hearted, to deliver the captive and to heal the blind.  Wherever
Jesus was when He walked this earth the presence of God was with Him, and because the presence of God was
with Him, there was power made available to Him to cast out devils and heal the sick and raise the dead!

Maybe you are still stuck on drugs because the place that you call the house of God doesn't house the presence
of God.  Maybe you are still suffering from depression and discouragement and suicidal tendancies because the
place where you go to church is not full of the presence of God and because He is not there there is no joy that
comes with His presence and thus you don't get the "medicine"that your soul needs (NEHEMIAH 8:10).  Find the
place of His presence!  Ask God to show you where to go and be willing to make the appropriate changes.  It
might be a church that you've never gone to before, it might be a denomination that you are not familiar with, for
those of you who are not Christians it will mean finding a church that teaches and preaches and practices the
Word of God, but whatever you do, find the place of His presence!

So my question to you is, "Are you experiencing the life changing, soul cleansing presence and power of the living
God?".  Or is your soul dry and parched and your spirit desperately thirsty for a glass of cool spiritual water.
Well, Jesus said He was the Living Water and whosoever would choose to drink from His fountain would thirst no
more (JOHN 4:7-14).  My first question to you, my parched  friend is, are you saved?  Have you asked Jesus to
come into your heart and have you made Him the Lord of your life, to follow Him, serve Him, and live for Him?  I
know that kind of commitment is a scary prospect, being married to Jesus, but it's even scarier to go to your
grave without Him.  My prayer is, if your haven't given your life to Jesus, that you would do so today.  It makes
for a good eternity as well a blessed here and now.  Give Him your life today.

Let me pray for you as you make this your prayer today...

"Father, I thank you for my friend who is coming to you today to make You his or her Savior and Lord.  Thank you
that they open their heart to you now and confess with their mouth that Jesus is indeed truly Lord.  Thank you
that You give them the grace and the strength to walk with You and that come what may You've promised never
to leave them nor forake them...ever.  Mom and Dad might have forsaken them, but You won't.  Their spouse
might have forsaken them, but You won't.  Their business partner might have stabbed them in the back, but You
never will.  And so, knowing this, even the promise that you have made to us in your word, we choose to
surrender to Your Holy Spirit, who is tugging at our hearts even now. We choose to surrender to Your presence
and put our hand in Your hand until death seperates us from this life and we are ushered directly into Your
presence-in-full for eternity!  Thank you Lord for saving my soul!  In Jesus' name, Amen!

Until next time,

God bless!
